[Technical Insight] Pursuing a Flawless Appearance: A PracticalAnalysisof Resolving Jetting Defects in POM Molding


In the manufacturing of plastic products, surface cosmetics often determine the final value of theproduct. For premium brands pursuing top-tier quality, even the slightest surface blemish cansignificantly impact the product’s professional image.


What Is Jetting? During the production of POM (Polyoxymethylene) buckles, the material’shigh viscosity and unique flow characteristics in its molten state can easily lead to cosmeticissues if processing parameters are not perfectly controlled. When molten plastic enters the moldcavity at high velocity, elongated, ripple-like marks can form near the gate area—a phenomenon knownas "Jetting."


As shown on the right side of the product image, these fan-shaped or streak-like marks are commonchallenges in the plastics industry. Although they generally do not compromise structural integrity,we firmly believe that advancements in mechanical performance must be matched by a flawless visual quality.


Long Huei’s Optimization Solutions During the development of this fasteningcomponent, LongHuei conducted extensive engineering refinement to overcome this specific challenge:


1.Gate Design Optimization: We recalculated and adjusted the gate position and angling toensure thatthe molten plastic enters the cavity in a stable "fountain flow" pattern, rather than shootingdirectly into the center.


2.Precision Injection Parameters: Through multi-stage injection speed and pressure profiling,weprecisely managed the initial melt flow behavior and mold temperature balance, effectivelyeliminating uneven flow conditions.


Final Result: Superior Visual Quality As shown on the left side of the product image, afterourtechnical optimization, the previously visible POM jetting marks were virtually eliminated. Thefinal surface presents a highly refined, uniform matte texture.
